I am red hot mad right about now. >:( I’ve used Avast off and on over the years and have never had this happen.
I got a pop up message saying that I had 3 add ons that the community considered harmful, so I clicked OK to remove them. After this, I opened Firefox and all of my settings, history, add ons, and even all of my bookmarks have been totally wiped!
I’ve lost everything.
It’s like a fresh install. On top of that, it even invalidated the shortcut I had pinned to the taskbar! Also, upon opening, I got the dialogue box asking if I wanted to import stuff, the one you get upon a fresh install!
What in theeee &$#($ just happened and why is Avast wiping my Firefox settings when removing add ons? That process should not be touching a single thing other than removing those add ons.
So, I suppose there’s no way to get all of that back? Fortunately, I have a 2 month old backup so most of it can be recovered, but this is still maddening.
If this is an Avast bug, and I have to assume it is, then I will have to switch AV’s because this is completely intolerable.
Please consider this a BUG REPORT >:(
