I noticed this morning Avast prompted me to ‘restart’ to finish installing the new program update that was released today. Upon restarting, Avast didn’t load in the taskbar. So I restarted again. This time, it loaded in the taskbar, but notified me that some protection services (Web shield, Behavior shield) weren’t on, so I manually enabled them, and everything worked fine… for awhile. Later on, upon restarting, Avast loaded, but still the SAME protection services were turned off. They keep being disabled intermittently AFTER manually enabling them, as well.
I was not experiencing these issues BEFORE today’s program update. AND YES, I HAVE TRIED REPAIRING. I also tried running the CLEANER APP IN SAFE MODE, but it gets stuck at the step where it’s ‘unregistering the firewall’ part (forget the exact terminology). So, I just uninstalled normal and reinstalled / CCleaner, but to no avail; same issue(s). I am on Windows 10 Pro x64 (1703 / 16226.1000). Guess it’s back to Windows Defender Antivirus until a new/working program update for Avast is released. Blah.
Only Premier and Internet Security has the avast firewall. Free versjon of avast does not have a firewall so

would have to do with the Windows Firewall. Avast clear exe cannot uninstall or unregister the native Window Firewall as it is a part of Windows 10.
It does take a bit of time to move the uninstall past the last 1-2% so I’d try again and be patient. Can take up to 10 minutes to finish. Wait for it to finish.
The uninstall process does not progress passed that. I’ve let it sit there for well over 10 minutes now. Not sure of what other steps to take. Only thing I can think of doing at this point, is System Restore, and reverting back to just before the new program update installed, and staying on the previous version problem-free. This is a fresh copy of Windows as of 4 days ago.
^Yep, that’s why I installed it. Problem-free now.
Had no clue Avast purchased AVG, until yesterday. Thought that was very cool. Been quite awhile since I’ve used AVG. I love how the Settings interface/UI is EXACTLY the same as Avast’s, as well as the virus definitions. Does not feel like “AVG” at all lol.
