Avast keeps saying 'Malicious URL Blocked' when i try to access my email account

Whenever i go to my email account (windows live - home.live.com), a red Avast pop-up window appears saying ‘Malicious URL Blocked’. I can still access my inbox/log-in/out etc. but i always seem to be getting this warning when i go to my account.

I have tried: rebooting PC, logging out then back in (email account), and deleting my cookies/internet history.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I am having the same problem with accessing hotmail. I think it started late last night. Will be watching this forum to see if anyone has a reason. I ran Malwarebytes to see if I had something in my computer, but it came up clear.

:(I am having same problem with same email provider, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Was a FP. Should be solved now.
Please update your VPS.

I’m sorry but what is a ‘VPS’ and how do i update it?

I’m with Tom, how?

And thanks to Avast for the quick attention regarding this issue!

I am also getting this issue with my hotmail account - it seems to be working ok, but when I try to edit contacts I get the error message of the OP

If you don’t know how to manually update, just restart your machine.

Right click the orange avast ball. Click Update - Engine and Virus Definitions

Thanks for the quick response but i’ve already restarted my computer… Doesn’t seem to have worked (that was probably an hour ago, if that makes a difference?)

Do it now…!!

Ok, thanks. Will try this.

You’re welcome…!

I’ve tried updating the vps but doesn’t do anything!

As said, restart your machine.
You have to be online, though.
Wait for avast updates itself.
Problem solved.

i was having this problem all morning… I restarted my pc, it updated automatically and the problem seems to be resolved… What is an FP and why was it causing this issue? and thanks for the help!

FP = False positive

Sorted after restart, thanks

I didn’t restart, update or anything else, but it is fixed, thanks for taking care of this in a VERY timely manner. I appreciate it greatly.
