Is there any way to stop the new Avast! from using an additional 6 gigabytes of my hard-drive in Windows 7? I think Avast! is making backup files or restore points. Every time I delete them using disk cleanup (going from 14GB to 20GB free space) Avast! will take it back on a later reboot. I’ve never had this issue with older versions, so I’m not sure what to do now.

scroll down to Farbar Recover Scan Tool … follow instructions and attach the two diagnostic logs here
Essexboy will then take a look when he is online later today…
Maybe I’m paranoid, but I find Farbar too invasive and wouldn’t feel comfortable sharing. If there is a way to prevent Avast! from making these unwanted backups, please let me know. If this is a common update issue, maybe I should uninstall Avast! and reinstall from scratch. If the new Avast! requires this additional HD space then I’d be better off with a smaller & lighter AV.
