Avast license keeps expiring in XP

Before those may say why XP ?
Its a machine that has certain software that runs fine on it but not for later Windows i.e. no further updating by developers.
Anyways Avast -which has run fine on XP now is kicking out the license. i uninstall re install then a day later after a few boot ups, it says “You are unprotected…license expired activate press to activate / new license” , but that button then tells me "cannot connect to internet "
This after seeing per settings that the license expires in Dec 2018
Very frustrating for a rock solid pc we want to keep going.

Any help is much appreciated !

may i ask witch programs you are using that need xp to run? from a newer os you can always right click a aplication a run in compatibility mode and select xp if needed. have you tried a reinstalltion of avast? youo should consider to upgrade the xp computer to atleast windows 7 for security resons seens microsft is not supporting xp and vista no more windows 7 will be drop next year if i remeber correct.

No issue here with license expiring on XP PRO SP3 computer … It shows 410 days remaining

i will not get into the debate of why we are still using XP on a particular machine . I’m seeking a solution to the problem of Avast’s license being expired somehow after running fine for a day or show Always happens on boot up . I have uninstalled reinstalled / repaired etc . Very frustrating

My XP machines are running fine with 17.9.2322 Avast Pro, no license issues. My generic Avast troubleshooting for over a decade is to uninstall, run the Avast Clear utility, then re-install.

Although this is probably unrelated to the license expire issue, it may save some time for anyone using FAT32 disks – Twice I’ve had files left after uninstall that could only be removed by booting with DOS and using the DELTREE command. The problem seems to be related to installing an over the top rather than clean after an uninstall.

I also use Avast Free (latest version) on an XP PRO SP3 computer and the license stays just fine. I suggest you run a good uninstaller, say IOBIT (free version) or some other one that does registry and residual file cleanup. Do this in Safe Mode and totally remove Avast … check and remove any folders or registry keys leftover from the uninstall … reboot and reinstall a clean copy of the latest version … I suggest using the Full Offline Installer as it works better than Stub Installers … it should self license and you should be fine. You can use a program called: CCleaner (it is free, just google it) to be sure the remnants are out of the registry
