Avast Mail Shield Conflict wit eM Client

I use Avast Free A/V and eM Client & GMail for email.
When I try sending some emails with files attached, there seems to be some ‘interference’ or conflict with Avast. eM Client reports that it couldn’t connect with GMail. This problem usually only occurs with bigger files - >2Mb. The email does eventually get sent.
If I disable Avast Mail Shield the problem does not occur.
eM Client Help advise that “The “Mail shield” in these Antivirus programs (Avast/AVG) tends to interfere with mail clients”.
Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I would turn off mail shield
Gmail servers scan mails for virus then no need to another scan

Personally I don’t advise recommending disabling the Mail Shield when we really don’t know the users email requirements.

If they only use Gmail, then yes that would/should be scanned by Google, but if they use other email services, they may not be scanned at source.

I only use GMail. So, until a fix is made by Avast so that this error doesn’t happen, I will turn of the mail shield, but only when I am sending large file attachments.

It shouldn’t be a problem to turn off for sending only (large attachments) but should be OK to leave it on for receiving Gmail.
I don’t know if you also receive emails with large attachments and if they would suffer the same delay.

Have you tried disabling only the Avast signature in your email protection settings?
Maybe that solves it.
I use Avast Free with eM Client, with Avast Free email protection signature disabled and I have no problems.
