Avast marks mbamswissarmy.sys as rootkit

:-[ i got this warning today…and never had before…even if I am using Malwarebytes for a few years…and avast for a very long time!!!
here is the message i got…
C:\windows\system32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys
identified as a rootkit…
I didn’t delete it I went to check on mbam forum…and it s a main component of MalwareBytes…not a rootkit
Seems to be a false postive

What version of avast! are you using ???
There is Free, Pro and avast! Internet Security.

;D I use the free version 5.1.889

I never have had a popup from avast! about Malwarebytes (MBAM).
Have you changed any avast! scan settings ???

no I didn’t do anything just got a Windows update…
Windows PowerShell 2.0 et WinRM 2.0 for Windows Vista (KB968930)
today ‎23/‎02/‎2011 14:10(GMT+1)

Sorry I can’t help further as I solved all my problems with Vista and MBAM by getting Windows 7.

Yeah because that’s an option… ::slight_smile:

@Nobneb,

This can happen when avast does the rootkit scan (IIRC ~8mins after boot) a MBAM is running…Some get it, some don’t.
I have had it once, while using avast, and MBAM (Both free FWIW), others have had repeated alerts

There are a couple of threads about it in the forums…
