AVAST Message at start : need to restart

Hi,
Since few days, I’ve the following message every boot : AVAST need to restart etc… do you want to do it now or later…
No virus found and No spayware (ad aware)
Is that due to an error in AVAST after installation of the last version. Shall I remove AVAST and reinstall it.
I’m on VISTA Premium on a TOSHIBA Satellite X200 21E with 2Go RAM.
Thanks for help

I would suggest you try a clean reinstall.

Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall.

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.

Now uninstall, reboot, run the uninstall utility, reboot install the latest version, reboot.

Hmmm, I’m quite confident that there is a bug - probably into any latest vps updates - due to this behavior.
There a lot of related posts about restarting opened in forums ::slight_smile:
For instance: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=32238.0

I’m having same issue on Gateway laptop running Vista Business. The reboot.txt and registry entry do not exist.

I have discovered the issue, at least for me, and it is not an Avast problem at all. I tracked the reboot message to Adobe Acrobat Updater and resolved the issue by turning of the updater using msconfig>startup. If you are uncomfortable with using msconfig, uninstalling and re-installing Adobe worked as well.

Moderators please post this to any additional threads I miss.

I should have been more specific in my reply. My reboot message was generic, ie. it did not specify which program was advising the necessity for a reboot. My apologies to those I sent in the wrong direction.
