avast! message on boot screen?

Since this version .1289 the welcome message on boot screen does not appear anymore although it is checked on “Settings/Basic”.
Deselecting and rebooting followed by selecting and rebooting will not correct the situation.
I installed .1289 via GUI over .1273 and it was still working with .1273.

Please don’t squeeze out your brain to help me getting it running again, I only want to know whether it’s just my system which does not like it anymore, or if it’s a general small bug?

Dont use that feature myself but have you tried a repair ?

I did that after posting…no change!
And I will not do a complete reinstall for that (never change a running system!)

I believe there were lots of people who unlike yourself didn’t want it, so it was disabled by default (I believe) and an option to display it if you wish, avastUI, Settings, Basic, Appearance.

I enabled it in, I believe it was version 6.0.1203, and it still works in 6.0.1289. I’m using Avast! Professional (English)(No Avast! gadget) on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit (English). I also updated using Update Program in the Avast! GUI.

Yes, once enabled that won’t change if you do the regular program update, but if you did a clean install it is disabled by default.

You didn’t say if that option is enabled in your settings ?

I did some win8 changes in source code for boot screen message in 1289 build so it seems I broke it somehow ::slight_smile:

I really got the clue my system did not like it anymore. In the meantime I did also a complete “clean” install of .1289, allthough I did not want to do that, checked the “welcome” feature and it would not work either.

Take your time, there is more important stuff to do I guess. ;D
