Avast! Mobile Security - DOWNLOAD WITHOUT Google Play Store

So Iv downloaded Avast! Mobile Security from the Google Play Store… now I cant remove the GMail account from my phone that I had to use to go download and install Avast! Mobile Security.

This is why Avast Mobile Security needs to be available BESIDES just on the Google Play Store. I have ZERO need for this GMail account to be associated with my phone, but because I HAVE to use the Play Store to dfownload Avast! Mobile Security… Avast is forcing me to associate account(s) with my phone that are really not needed (and actually present holes in my security; which I just had to have fixed via my provider and a HARD RESET.)

Please make Avast! available for download without having to associate/BIND a GMail account UNECESSARILY to my phone.

Im tired of GMail’s supposed safety and security but yet they still want to go through my emails to better advertise to me.

Hi,

you can download and install AMS from alternative markets as well, for example Opera Apps - http://apps.opera.com/en_us/avast_mobile_security.html

Filip

Thanks… good to know. Now time to RESET my phone AGAIN!!!

Imma bet this will also solve the problem where I cant view my CALL LOG when creating a block filter but thats a different thread already going.

Thank you Filip for letting us know. It’s important that an alternative site exists, because I expect google to pull the plug on AV apps as they just did for AdAway and other ad blockers. Somehow their “do no harm” no longer makes sense.

Hi,

I think the removal of ad blocker was due to the interruption with common monetizing platforms on Android. I think that if the ad blockers would only block ads in browser, they might have been fine. Blocking ads in apps themselves was the biggest pain in my opinion.

Filip

You might be right, I don’t know about that ‘monetizing’ thingie.
I do know for sure that AdAway doesn’t go after applications at all. Perhaps they do if the app wants out to a scumware site, But that should be prohibited by google in the first place.

AdAway gives us just a hosts file containing lists of bad sites. They have 3-4 lists, the famous MVPS list is the biggest. Basically it’s the same list as in Windows. So google killing AdAway is unwarranted IMO.

I think they just block advertisements, but as far as I know, in-app adverts and web adverts often come from the same servers so it’s blocking both and that’s the problem in my opinion. Blocking adverts on web only might be fine with Google.

Filip

Agreed to the thanks for an alternative download… I think my newest issues all have to do with FORCING me to sync my GMAIL for the Playstore to my phone with NO WAY OF REMOVING the sync… I can only turn it “off”. But now my phone is PERMANTLY conencted to a GMAIL account, I cant delete it as 'some applications require" the sync to phone… the only application Iv downloaded is Avast!. Now, how is adblocking NOT a security issue?

I think Avast needs to cover the REQUIREMENT of conencting a phone to GMAIL (even if you have SYNC turned ‘OFF’) in their list of system requirements for Avast! mobile… or get it off the playstore… and how did ads become NOT SECURITY related to even be considered to not have ad blocking in a security app.

This internet needs an ENIGMA!!! :-*

This seems to be most of the trick to fixing my issues I was experiencing via DL thru Google Play Store. I no longer have my phone connected to ANY GMail account either and that seems to make a ton of difference as well.

OFF TOPIC - You cant delete a GMail account profile from your Android device once its been connected to Google Play Store. This is very hypocritical for a company (Google Android) that is so focused on unlocking and controlling our own devices!!! :o
