Avast not auto updating on start up + Windows 8

Having read through a previous thread on this subject there was a suggestion that it may be possible to sort the issue of not auto updating on startup by changing the power settings in Windows 8. Unfortunately no one actually detailed how to do same. I was wondering if someone could help me out with this.

Here be the link to the previous thread … http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=110083.0

bluvoid – go to power options, click on ‘change what the power buttons do’. On that screen there’ll be a setting to change settings which are not currently available. Click on that and then go down the page a bit and uncheck the setting that says ‘enable fast boot’. Save the changes and reboot. Avast will then automatically update when you turn on your Win 8 machine (provided there is an update). Disabling ‘fast boot’ really doesn’t add that much time to booting. I hope this is fixed in Avast 8 but it’s certainly not a deal-breaker if it’s not.

This should give you all the information you need:

Followed through with the above and for the first time, on start up, Avast auto updated. Seems to have worked like a charm. [fingers crossed]

Cheers guys. Much obliged.

@bluevoid – glad it worked for you.

@bob3160 – thanks for the link. Good read.

You’re welcome Dave.

Glad your problem appears to be solved bluevoid
