Avast Not Free after 12 Months?

When I installed AVAST Free on my IMac in June 2012 I thought it was a free program. I have today had an e.mail purporting to be from avast Antivirus <Sales@email,avast.com> stating that my Free AVAST expires in 1 Month and offering to activate “avast! Internet Security” for $19.99/year. Can anyone advise whether the Free period is actually a trial period - or is this e.mail some kind of scam aimed at encouraging me to click through to a suspect site? Any advice please

Avast free is always free, it just requires re-registering once the 12 months are due, ignore the offer if you want to stick with free.

It’s either 28 days or 14 days that the re-register function will become available to you in maintenance/registration

Apparently you never registered your Avast free. Go here to do so.

Thanks. Having read the small print on the lower part of the e.mail, it does indeed say “If you want to stay with your current baseline free antivirus protection …” In future more haste less speed!

Apparently you didn’t read the OP’s post correctly ( When I installed AVAST Free on my IMac in June 2012 ) 11 months have past and he/she is being notified about expiry.

Your welcome
