I just reinstalled Avast Free and it only offered me INSTALL button and nothing else, installing all the crap I don’t need or want like Software Updater and Rescue Disc and whatnot. I had to go to Installed Apps and use Modify option where I could remove these optional apps. Why has installer been changed this way? It’s not cool.

Agreed, not only that but, on program updates (which I have set to manual), it isn’t honouring your existing settings - it enabled the ‘NOT so’ Smart Scan.
God knows what other settings may have changed in program updates. Like it did some time ago with the Network Shield settings.
It’s looking like you need to save your settings prior to updating the program and then import the settings.
It’ll also put a brand new Avast shortcut on your desktop every time. And I’ve had it install components I’ve previously explicitly uninstalled. Several times!
I already started topic about this, but Avast team not communicate anyway.
BTW this forum is so horrible, I got errors and errors.
I am assuming you mean the frequent CloudFlare originated “403 Errors” when switching to another thread that we have been complaining about here: Community suffering constant 403 Errors
