Avast not starting on startup

I am running 4.8 Professional and it has always worked great but starting a few days ago it does not start up automatically at startup. It is running when I shutdown but not after startup, I have to manually start it. Any suggestions?

try this

For a repair of avast. Windows, Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button from the pop-up window, scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

come back and tell us if it worked

Sorry, I should have told you I tried the repair and it didn’t work. Anything else I can try?

have you done a virus scan? does avast update?
have you run MBAM and SAS

I have scanned for viruses with another software program but not Avast. I am doing that now. Please excuse my ignorance but what is MBAM and SAS?

Avast has been updating when it is running. It is up-to-date right now.

Check your computer for Malware with

MBAM http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
update and run quick scan, click the button “remove selected” to quarantine anything found, and restart

SAS http://filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/

I regularly run Spybot-Search & Destroy. I’ll try MBAM and SAS.

Useless nowadays. Try MBAM.

if you fiend no bugs interfering with avast startup, then i guess the next to try is a new clean install

you can post your scan logs here if anything is found

I downloaded and ran MBAM and SAS. MBAM found to following:

Folders Infected:
C:\Program Files\MyWaySA (Adware.MyWebSearch) → Quarantined and deleted successfully.
C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe (Adware.MyWebSearch) → Quarantined and deleted successfully.
C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin (Adware.MyWebSearch) → Quarantined and deleted successfully.

Files Infected:
C:\Program Files\SUPERPRO.DLL (Spyware.OnlineGames) → Quarantined and deleted successfully.

and SAS found nothing.

uninstall avast and restart
run the removal tool found here and restart Nr.1 http://uninstallers.blogspot.com/
install avast again…if this does not work… ???
