My trial ended so I registered for a year. When I entered the license key, avast stopped working and I got quite a bit of errors
When I started it up, it told me I had to choose a skin, there were none available, not sure why, so I had to download one. If I didn’t choose one, a huge list of skin errors popped up and it would close. I didn’t get a picture of it.
When I did pick a skin, I got this when I started it
The Uninstall Utility does not work either. There are some other errors that I didn’t get pictures off because I’ve forgotten how I got them to appear, this was of course after it stopped working; they displayed a bunch of errors with numbers or something, I didn’t understand them at all
I’m running on a Dell Inspiron1545 with Vista Home Basic
Hi
Did you have any other antivirus installed other than avast? If you did then you need to un install them with there uninstall utilitys (Norton and macafee are notorious leaving bits and pieces in the registry that can cause this problem). If not then you need to remove avast with ASW CLEAR. Reboot and re download the full version of avast again & re- enter your valid key.
Thanks for the help guys. My laptop came with AVG Anti-Virus and I uninstalled it, so I’m not sure if there are somethings left over
EDIT: It seems I’ve come across another problem; I’m not sure if it’s just a computer problem or if it has anything to do with Avast, but it started right after I restarted and got it working. For some reason my internet explorer is having problems, I think it’s Javascrpit or ActiveX because it keeps asking me to allow it to be used (it doesn’t matter if I click yes or no). For example: on my yahoo homepage, I can not open up the side tabs or scroll through the news, the buttons just arn’t there. On YouTube, Xbox.com, and other sites, videos won’t play and my IE even crashes sometimes
Could be malware related, or a confliction or a Windows problem of some type.
Try MBAM to help eliminate the first possibility.
There is a remover tool for version 8 of AVG, let us know how you get on with MBAM, first.
