Ok got free version on my pc, so when i seen the option to have it on my mobile, i downloaded and installed it, now set it up and put a pin in i would remember, now when i go to the settings it keeps asking me for this pin, put it in not the right pin, ok yes it is, so uninstalled it 3 times and it keeps asking me for a pin everytime, again unistalled and wont unless someone can help, otherwise i’ll be choosing a different antivirus, im very disapointed as ive never had a problem with any avast product.
Hi,
you have to uninstall Anti-Theft as well, not only Mobile Security.
Filip
yeah uninstalled it all, gone into application manager and nothing left at all, its getting very frustrating now.
Hi,
and after new installation of Mobile Security it asks for PIN again?
Filip
it does yes, i really want it but dont want to reset my mobile to have it on, is there any elements that could be left to uninstall just in case something might be left on.
Well, if you go and uninstall Anti-Theft via uninstallation wizard in Mobile Security-Settings and then uninstall Mobile Security as well, everything should be gone.
Filip
see the problem is i can not get into the settings for avast at all, the box for the pin wont let me, if i press cancel it shuts it all down, now ive gone into everything and it will only let me uninstall the program, no other element from avast is left anywere. now the code i put when setting it up is not doing it at this point, why i dont know because i wrote it down just in case, very very stupid thing to have.

Oh right, you can’t do it via the wizard, sorry.
Well there might be no trace of avast left cause the Anti-Theft part is hidden. Go to your device Settings - Location and Security - Device Administrators, you should see Anti-Theft there (named either avast! Anti-Theft or your custom name given during the installation), untick the checkbox, then go to Settings - Application, find the app and uninstall it. Then uninstall Mobile Security and you should be good to go.
Filip
cheers for your replys and helping, i went into device administrators but only thing there is Mac dev, nothing else looked all over cant find anything
Hmm, and this “Mac dev” is an app you know is not Anti-Theft, correct?
Filip
if i click on the mac dev box it pops ups saying, erase all data, erase the phones data without warning by performing a factory data reset. dont think it’s that lol nearlly clicked activate as well.
You just need to untick the checkbox, if it is not ticked at the moment, do nothing there. If you dont know what the app does, try to uninstall it. If you succeed, try reinstalling Mobile Security.
Filip
yeah its unticked after reading what it says when i click think i’ll leave it alone lol. i know i had a update 2 days ago and im sure it was part of it. just stuck on what to do now, as i love avast on my pc and other pc, and really wanted it on my phone, but this is really challenging me
OK, there are 3 possibilities:
- You have Anti-Theft installed. In that case, after reinstalling Mobile Security, the PIN is shared back to it.
- Your ROM have problems uninstalling apps leaving some data behind - in that case, go to Settings - Applications - avast! Mobile Security and delete its data.
- You have some kind of a cloud synchronization active that pushes settings back to Mobile Security upon installation. You will have to disable the synchronization first before installing Mobile Security again.
Filip
no tried delting data then uninstalling, reinstalled get same, cant find out if any cloud snychronization is active, im currently using my home broadband. really stumped now
I still think the Anti-Theft is disguised as the “Mac dev” app… Try uninstalling it. If you don’t know what it is and it can be uninstalled, it’s not part of the system and shouldn’t hurt your device at all.
Filip
sussed it how i thought of the idea i do not know, but brain wave enabled lol, as i set up the 6 digit pass the 5th number didnt register as i typed it, so did my pass but missed the 5th number and it’s done i can get into everything, really sorry for wasting your time, but i love avast and it was really getting to me, thankyou very very much for helping me, and just glad it’s sorted now.
and have just linked it to my main avast account, again thankyou for all your help.
OK, glad it’s working
Filip
