Hope someone on here can help. We use the full Avast suite in the rest of our entire enterprise, and now are purchasing some HTC Touch Pro2 devices with Windows Mobile 6.5 and would like to put Avast PDA on them. I inquired by submitting a ticket on the support center about this.
This is the response I got:
Thank you for contacting our support center with your concerns.
Yes, avast! antivirus for PDA is compatible with them. more info can be found here:
If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me again.
I had problems and posted this reply:
Yes – I’m not sure which version to download. I’ve downloaded and attempted to install both “avast4ppc_wm6_setup” and “avast4sphonewm6_setup”. Both come up with the error that it is “not a vaild Pocket PC application”, thus preventing install.
Can you please advise as to the proper version to download and install on my HTC Touch Pro II with Windows Mobile 6.5?
It’s been several weeks since I posted my questions above but no response. I even posted 2 additional prompts asking for a status, but no response.
Does anyone know the answer to my question? Which version should I use or will not Avast PDA work on my devices model & OS? I need to get these devices deployed here in several weeks, so I’m in a crunch and I will have to find a different solution if I don’t get an answer soon.
From my experience when you see that error message, it means that you will have to download the file to your PC and then, with your device connected to the PC and Microsoft Activesync ruining, you will double click on the downloaded file and it will intall through Activesync.
I have gotten that error quite a few times when I tried to execute programs on the mobile device itself. Then I discovered from the instructions of one of those software on which I had failed attempts, that I had to do it from the PC.
I am not sure if Avast! offers a Antivirus for your mobile device. I believe your device has Qualcomm processor, which is not listed on the link you provided.
