Avast Online Security & Privacy Discontinued - Firefox

So AOSP now only available for Chrome etc browsers.
So won’t have that anymore on Firefox.

I assume Avast webshield remains an effective barrier to web malware.

It is a very long time ago that I used this, in all honesty I wasn’t that impressed with the additional graffiti (icons) in the search results. So I abandoned it in Firefox, my default browser and continue with my own common sense in what search results that I select. I have never felt any less protected.

The Web Shield, still covers your ass in what you choose to click.

Thanks for that reassurance David. I can now catch up on lost sleep.

You’re welcome.

I don’t know what add-ons you use with Firefox, but uMatrix, uBlock Origin are two pretty good go-to add-ons which can also help.

It was useful for me, Firefox user for years… And please, the reasons they gave…

Effort optimization: By focusing on other top browsers (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge), we can reach a broader audience while maintaining efficiency. <-- If you leave a part of your community, no…
Changing user needs: User preferences and requirements shift over time, and we want to meet those needs efficiently. <-- So, don't stop it on Firefox?!
Technological advancements: As technology evolves, we need to adapt and allocate resources effectively. <-- What does this even mean, and what does this have to do with Firefox?

Maybe it’s me, I certainly am too idiot to understand. But I strongly disagree with the discontinuation and those vague and imprecise “reasons”.

I totaly agree with SeigneurSauron. I don’t like this Avast dicision.
After many safe years with Avast Premium, I don’t feel safe anymore.
This is probably the end my Avast account instead of my Firefox account.
I searching for another security program, knowing that there are a lot more security programs than browsers.

Why don’t you feel safe anymore ?
You still have the full on-access functionality of your Avast Program.

The Web Shield protects your online browsing, Firefox is my default browser and that is protected by the Web Shield.

When this add-on came out many years ago I tried it, but I soon tired of the Graffiti on the search results and removed it. The Web Shield continues to protect my browsing.
