Avast Online Security Question

Hello Everyone,
I’m currently having a situation with Avast…
My main question is can I have the Avast Online Security Plug-in for Google Chrome without actually having Avast Free Antivirus installed on my computer? Or do they go hand-in-hand?

My situation is I normally use AVG (trust and have had it for years) but I wanted to try Avast. I like it but I don’t use the antivirus as much as the Online Security Plug-in. AVG recently detected 2 Inline hook win32k.sys infections.
A few people on the AVG forums point the finger at having two Antiviruses running at the same time, and the infections are false positives. Honestly I want to keep AVG and Uninstall Avast but can I still use the Avast Chrome Plug-in by itself?

Hi,

yes you can have the Avast Online Security plugin installed in Chrome, without having installed also the Free AV. But of course having both is recommended :wink:
