Avast password manager

google translate

I noticed by pure chance that the Avast Password module had disappeared, with no prior communication from the publisher. Furthermore, the new solution proposed is not at all easy to use. And finally, for me, who also has Avast Password on my tablet and smartphone, there is no longer any synchronization, which means that any creation or modification made on one device must be made on the other. Why make it simple when you can make it complicated? Currently considering changing publishers.

there was at least 2 months notice on this forum and in the UI which showed passwords end of life/expiring and to update to the new browser version.

I can also confirm after just testing it myself that it does sync from pc to phone. a test was saved on pc and it showed up on my phone within a couple of seconds.

Why?
You’ve said the most important thing, and I couldn’t have said it better myself.

I’ve just added the French links to back up what you said. :+1:

@ MrDJ

If the language in the topic isn’t in your language you should see a World Globe in those posts - clicking that will translate.

The reverse is true for the recipient of your reply, they would also see a World Globe icon.

Whilst this isn’t ideal, it saves ‘the user/recipient’ the hassle of seeking a translation.

Dalm, your good at this David.
I hadnt even noticed the globe before. slightly easier me thinks, cheers mate.

You’re welcome.
I still have an app for Firefox, ImTranslator, it’s handy for other things outside of the forum.

I’ll say again … The new password manager doe NOT auto fill in username & passwords :frowning:

@Dimpie
And i will say it again, YES it does.
your last post was 28 days ago on a different thread about the same issue.
maybe you have something set up wrong.
At first every time i closed my browser and reopened it the password manager was logged out and locked. this requires you to enter the password each time.
In settings you can change this to stay active for 7 days so it does not log you out. you can set up each password to either auto fill each time or put them in a catagory to aske for the master password each time. maybe this is what is happening to you.
open each password and on the right there is a toggle switch asking to secure each one so like banks it needs the master password each time. for genera website logins i have that set to off so it will autofill the password each time.
Have you got the orange square on top right of browser and does it have a yellow exclamation mark showing. if yes this means its locked and it will ask for login password.

Nope.. everything was setup as per Avast instructions on 3 different machines. Vault IS set to stay unlocked for that 7 days. All logins is set to “vault password required” to OFF

Take this site for instance:

On the login page I get this with vault unlocked and an icon that shows there is one login saved..

when i click that icon I get this …

but clicking on that area as per arrow fills in NOTHING yet takes me back to the login as per 2nd image.

I get this issue on all 3 pc’s running Firefox as a browser.

If you have that same little icon that shows you have a saved login and you click it and it fills in your details, then im happy for you, but for me it doesn’t work and if you read a few posts about this new manger, you’ll notice im NOT the only one in this boat about NOT auto-filling.

If you still don’t understand I can try make a video ??

Thx
Jigs

nope understand totally.
and yes thats what i get and if i click on the last image it autofills the email and password. also using firefox.
The only difference i have i still have the original key from the old setup which is the random generator but also has the old passwords linked to it so even though the old password manager has been turned off i wonder if somehow the old key is still auto filling even though suposedly its been turned off.
Honestly have no idea.

Could be it then ?? Update here once that old one expires and the new one works by itself.
Meanwhile Im gonna disable some other FF addons … maybe its clashing. Might also install Chrome and test that browser. It’s just crap that I must now be the test-dummy for Avast Devs

no idea if this will work or help but might be worth adding the key extention just to see if it changes anything.

that’s linked to the new manager, but no sweat … I’ll hunt the other down

dalm, sorry. tried to get the link from my extention but shows blank.

@MrDJ At last, found the culprit. It was a 3rd party VPN addon. Although this VPN wasn’t even running but just enabled on the taskbar caused the details to not auto-fill. … weird … but after disabling it under the extensions, the password manager worked as it should :+1:
I hope this helps others with the same issue.

Thanks
Jigs

Good to hear youve got it sorted. which vpn was it, nord used here and have to have a couple of things turned off, browser protection and add blocker as they dont conflict with avast but make browsing and opening pages impossible.
