I got and error about “Avast Passwords didn’t start properly”. I tried uninstall and reinstall the product for many times but still no clue for working. Any ideas?
Hi,
Which macOS version do you have?
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201260
I’m using macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur with Apple M1 chip.
Are there any debug information I can access so I can share it here?
Hi,
Logs are accessible by clicking on the top bar ap icon while holding the option button.

Hi,
This issue is caused by Apples M1 chip which prevents Avast Passwords from functioning correctly. Unfortunately, the only current solution would be to make use of an alternative password manager. If you still have access to your previous Mac on which Avast Passwords was working, then you could export the data file and import it into an alternative password manager.
Thanks for your reply. Hoping the team is working out this issue and update the app ASAP.
There is a workaround. I took the IPA of the App from iPad/iPhone by using iMazing. It’s not very implemented for Mac use, for example the automatic filling.
Seems that I can only “copy” or “export” to an .imazingapp file. Is that not enabled in the trial version?
Yes, I got it. Just paid and managed the iOS Apps.
i’s not necessary to pay the app iMazing…you have to go in some option of the app manager , than you have to download the app that you want, once you did it , right click and click on “export the app”. I did it for free.
I have same issue.
Cant acces my passwords so i can’t even acces my apple login.
If you have other devices can access Avast passwords. You can get back your Apple ID first. After that, Download the iOS version of the Avast password and use it as a workaround.
Like many here, I cannot run Avast Passwords on my Mac Mini M1. Since I have an iMac in the same room running A.P. I just opened A.P. on the iMac and did a screen share from the iMac to the MM. This allowed me to see and manipulate AP from the M1 and seriously eased my pain setting up the various passwords on the M1. I have decided to give Last Pass a try. Only problem is, LP won’t import a .json file which is the only file format that AP will export your passwords to .
Hi, see if this helps: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=248333.0
Does Avast have any intention to update Avast Passwords to run on the Mac M1 chip? I have checked out other password managers and cannot find a simple, easy to use one like Avast Passwords. Can someone at Avast recommend an alternative this is as easy to use as theirs if they have no plans to update their manager?
