Avast popup quickly flashes in middle of screen when webpage loads....

Quite frequently when I visit web pages the web page will be loading and I will see the Avast program ‘flash’ on my screen for a split second. It’s a rectangle about 5 x 3 inches and it’s clearly the Avast program doing it. It has never done this before and it’s a new thing ---- it’s really annoying. I tried turning off the Core-Shield called ‘WebShield’ because I thought that was the issue. I am using Malwarebytes full version real-time protection at the same time.

Anyone else seen this behavior? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

me, me I know this:

"- Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premium)

  • Which version/build of Avast…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?"

I started having the same problem about 2 weeks ago. The only thing I could do was to inactivate the web scan in avast. This stopped the problem but now my virus security is not as good. Had no choice , couldnt often see the screen and bothered my eyes with the flashing. Will have to go to different anti virus product.

Hi, i have the same problem, Avast keeps popping up in middle of work, browsing, gaming etc. i have avast for years now, and it began after the last update.

System:
Windows 10 Pro, 64Bit, build 19042
Avast free, 20.9.2437
(Windows def is also on)…

Windows Defender shouldn’t also be on.

When you install a 3rd party resident AV, Windows should disable Windows Defender, so it shouldn’t be resident and active.
You can still allow it to do periodic scans (which would also require that it updates its virus signatures).
