Hi, I’ve just bought Avast Premier and was doing the whole setup. After I’ve setup the One Touch password, I can’t access the Password settings in the settings menu.
Why is the app asking 4 times for the password and ignores it when I input the password?
Also, I can’t synchronize my Password vault from the smartphone with the Windows app.
I’m trying to access the settings. I’ve just bought Avast Passwords and can’t even manage my passwords anymore.
Question yet to be solved: Why there is 4 windows asking for the password?
according to description of your symptoms I assume, that you are facing known bug we hopefully fix/prevent in coming service pack.
If you have ever tried turn off One touch login (OTL) feature then it is possible that you have been logged in via One touch login at the time when you wanted to turn it off and as there is a bug in the procedure of OTL removal it failed. This has caused inconsistency in settings and you are no loner able to login to your Password manager instance.
Repairing of this issue not that simple as it requires access to database and some modifications in data tables Simple part (regain access to your passwords):
just delete file kv_pam.db in following location (replace with your windows user name, - if you use only one my avast account, you should have only one folder on this level, if you have more folders there, then contact me via PM with your avast account name, I will find provide you avast id you should use), note that it safe to delete this file, it doesn’t contain any crucial data and the file is automatically recreated if missing
Location: C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\AVAST Software\APM<USERNAME><YOURAVASTID>\
As you have premium version I assume that you want use OTL feature again. Unfortunately after fix mentioned above, you will not be able activate it again until you perform second step. Easiest way how to get that fixed is provide me pam.db file from location above via PM, I will fix it and send it back to you. Note that pam.db contains all your sensitive data, but without knowledge of your main password we can’t read your records anyhow so it safe send the file to me, but if you don’t trust this disclaimer you can try fix it by your own using following instructions:
Using any sqlite management tool - you may use one of following
open file pam.db in location above
Go to table named login_kek
And delete record with description AirBond Key
That’s it, you should be able use OTL again
Please note that as mentioned before, this is caused by known bug and until that one gets fixed you should be careful when you are turning off one touch login feature. It is safe turn off One touch login feature only in case you are logged in by entering main password manually. If you are logged in via mobile phone (confirming push notification) and you will turn off OTL same issue appears and you need to follow fix procedure again.
If you have any further question feel free to contact me via PM of here on forum.
I think I’ll just wait a bit before using Onetouch login again.
I still can’t sync Avast Passwords across my devices :-\
Well, I’ve been testing LastPass and PasswordBox since then, and I think that Avast should aim to these apps for a reference. They really work very well, especially LastPass. But, for sync and price features (besides I’ve got paid Avast Passwords version), I’ll keep PasswordBox for a while. Sorry for the outflow, but (not because OTL) I fell that this is still not really reliable for everyday use.
