I have a premier subscription, that I just renewed, and when I install it on my 2 day old laptop (windows 8.1) and restart the computer the keyboard stops working. I have to reset everything back to the factory fresh stuff in order to get it to work. I know its the avast doing it because it has happened twice after I download it and do the restart.
Yeah it’s really weird, i also got the same problem with my premier Avast subscription and brand new keyboard. I update my avast to premium, then avast wants the computer to restart. When the computer has restarted my keyboard won’t type, nothing works. I can press F8 to enter Bios, but thats it, afterward i have reinstall Windows! What should I do? I want to use my premium Avast that I paid for!
What exact version of avast is it that you are trying to install Micah?
Windows 8.1 has issues with keyboards since it is mend to be used with touchscreens.
I’ve used Avast for a few years now and want to install it on my brand new computer. Just renewed my subscription a couple of days before my old laptop took a dump. I believe it is the latest version since I’m downloading it and trying to install it.
I normally don’t recommend it, but since the 2015 version seems to have a lot of issues…
Get a copy of the latest 2014 version and install that.
Make sure to disable the automatic program update.
I have a free trial of another antivirus. Probably just use it until the bugs get worked out then upgrade. Thanks so much for your advice.
This needs to be addressed, but I am reluctant to open a support ticket on this. I work in a computer shop and the boss doesn’t want me to spend my time chasing this down.
We know how to deal with it here, (install the pro trial – THEN apply the activation code), but as widespread as it is for us here in our little 3 tech shop, it has to be affecting private residential customers who think that their PC is now broken.
