Avast Premier Firewall to be blocking my internet connections

Hello there, ladies and gentlemen!

I realised my lately internet connection issues are due to the recent installed Avast Premier and its Firewall. How can i guess this is so? Before installing Avast Premier, i had Avast Free + ZoneAlarm Firewall = no problems at all. Now, sometimes connections gets interrupted by the well known yellow sign (limited connection) and i cannot access to the internet. Here’s the weird part: if i disable WiFi, open Avast & disable the firewall, and re-enable the WiFi, then i have internet connection again. Once again, i can turn the firewall on and i have no problem for a couple of hours.

What may i do? I have tweaked Avast for maximum security but haven’t touched the firewall very much, since it isn’t that advanced. So far, i backed up my whole Avast configuration but the firewall and reset the configurations. This did not fix the problem. Only thing i have changed on the firewall is:

-tell me when a new “allow” rule has been created
-for applications without pre-configured rules, always ask me what to do

Thanks in advance for your help and have a great day. Stay safe.

To start with, remove ZA completely and undo all changes it has made.
Removing it through control panel is far from enough.

Reboot

Do the same with avast.

Reboot

Install avast.

Zone-Alarm uninstaller (Nr #54) https://singularlabs.com/uninstallers/other-software/

Hi everybody and thanks for replying to my problem.

I must explain that i uninstalled ZoneAlarm Firewall the way i uninstall all my software. Using Revo Uninstaller with the advanced files search once uninstalled. After that, cleaned the registry with Ccleaner for invalid firewall entries. If this isn’t enough, please tell me how to proceed. Is there a way to repair or re-install Avast without having to download the whole file? I’m at the farm and internet connections is about 35kbps (with epic downgrades to 0kbps, cancelling all downloads).

Thanks for everything so far.

Please help me here, i’m still having trouble and i’m about to perma disable Avast Firewall and download some third-party…

Download avast at a place with faster/more reliable internet.
Put it on a usb stick (or cd/dvd)

Alright Eddy. Should i clean re-install Avast and that’s it? That should solve my problem here?

It should provide your method actually totally removed ZA.
Revo isn’t the answer to all removals.

Latest Revo version has a major bug.
I wanted to remove Mirc and Revo wanted to remove things from 7(!) other applications.
One of them was 7-zip.

Hello again. I clean re-installed Avast Premier. Made sure to clean the registry and trash files after uninstall. Rebooted as suppossed to. Re-configured everything as i wanted (max protection on the general antivirus and ask me always on the firewall settings). The problem still persists. Now noticed it happens on wifi as well as on ethernet.

This couldn’t be solved as i didn’t recieve the necessary support. Really dissapointed from Avast’s paid version support. Please close thread, will see how i figure this out.

PS: Don’t forget it’s holiday season…

It would not surprise me if the real problem is the connection speed.

I’m back home with quality internet connection and the problem is still here. Just close it.

Follow the directions for a clean install:

Clean Install of Avast:

This should clean up anything that Revo may have messed up. I’d also remove ZA using their removal tool.
If that still doesn’t work, follow the directions here:
