Avast Premiere Download - Invalid File Signature

My system has had two instances of Avast issues in the past wekk, leaving me to attempt to re=install Avast. The forst time, my Avats Premiere was turned into Avast Free (Screenshot 1). Not much to be done about this since I have deleted and reinstalled already.

This newest time, I downloaded from the Installation Files page and got a version with its database from December 1, 2015. As well, I found invalid file signatures (Screenshot 2) when downloading through IE; both from the installation file page and the forum download link.

I reinstalled the second time because my PC started up and I ended up with an old school Win98 dialog box just saying “Avast UI” with an OK button. I used the Avast Clean Tool to uninstall yet it didn’t delete the Avast directory either. I know this is more than one symptom going on so be patient and Ill do my best to separate it but the bad file sig’s are the biggest concern right now.

Hi,

We are currently investigating the Invalid file signature problem. It seems to affect only IE, though.
Could you please try using a different browser?

Thanks.

It happened in Edge as well.

Just tried Edge again… here is the screenshot.

Off hand… you guys all are aware of the new-old Linux kernel exploit just uncovered right? Its been exploited for almost three years now. Are the Avast servers on Linux? Maybe that’s what happened here… again fully off hand.

Sorry, I meant any browser made by Microsoft (either IE or Edge)

No. I do not use other browsers.

How about this issue just gets fixed instead of me having to install Chrome or FF and letting them sell my data to anyone they choose. With IE at leat I can ‘opt out’ of that type of corporate activity. I wont even get into how insecure Chrome is from my link above.

But for real… I don’t use other browsers. I do not want to argue why I should. IE and Edge work just fine for everything I do except downloading Avast with a valid file signature apparently.

Wait. You can still download Avast through IE/Edge. The only problem is the notification about the invalid/corrupted certificate.

The notification about the signature is because of this http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/32288.windows-enforcement-of-authenticode-code-signing-and-timestamping.aspx
Nothing has been hacked.
