I’m currently in the process of setting Avast up on my sons PC as part of family sharing but I’m unable to download the software, every time I try I get and error. Even tried from 2 separate computers and each time they give similar errors.

I pay for Avast Premium (10 Devices) yearly, directly from Avast of which I’ve been subscribed for several years now.
If you use a proxy/VPN disable it and try again.
