I have an XP box with Avast Pro (trial) when I install it IE quits working and generates an error saying the ahascr.dll file has caused the error. When I un-install Avast IE works perfectly ??? How is this file associated with either IE or Avast and can I delete with no harm ??? Any and all help appreicated!!!
What version of IE are you using, exactly?
It seems to be a problem related to the ScriptBlocker module. You can temporarily try to install avast without the ScriptBlocker selected - that should work for now…
Was the window that reported the problem the one that lets you send the report to MS? (the standard XP error window).
Also, please check the folder
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson
does it contain any files?
Thanks
Vlk
The version of IE is is 6 not sure of the exact 6.XXXXX version…
Yes it was Windozes that wanted to send a report to MS (standard XP window)
I will check the Dr. Watson tonight and see if it has anything in it…If it contains files what should I do with them? (DELETE) As a temporary fix so I could post my question last night I renamed the file to ahascr.old, which allowed everything to work with no obvious issues.
Strange,there is no record on ahascr.dll in google… :-\
Is it really that strange? It is an avast! file…
LOL usually there is some info on google about files, but i didn’t doublechecked on my system
Try installing IE6 Service Pack…
I checked the Dr Watson folder it has 1file it is a drwtsn32.log…IE has all the pacthes that MS has relkeased…
Please zip the the dr watson log file and send it to my email address… thanks.
