I went from Avast Home Free and updated to 5.0.396. I then decided to upgrade to Avast Pro Anti virus. Everything looks and works great except the Sandbox feature does not work. I do not see a special window or red line surrounding the area. Do I need to re-install and then if I do, how about the license for the Pro version? Will Avast update in the future take care of this problem. What a mess!
What process did you start in the sandbox? Also - how did you start it?
I tried to use Internet Explorer and Firefox. I right clicked on a shortcut and made sure I was inside the box.
So you used the option “Run in sandbox” (or is it “Run virtualized”?) from the context menu?
What operating system do you use?
I am using Vista 32 bit. I tried both use in sandbox and also virtualization. I am hoping it is okay so I don’t have to reinstall and maybe not get it to accept my license. Any help is most appreciated! I have been using Free version for about 2 years and felt I needed to pay and support Avast.
Did you reboot after you upgraded ? The sandbox needs a reboot to work properly

Yes, at least 4 times! I am ready to give up and use the 2 year license without the benefits of Pro!!! Lokks like I purchased nothing!
No lol try a repair in the control panel then in the add/remove programs and then scroll down choose repair and reboot your system it has a chance that it should works

That did not work. If possible, could you send me an url so I can see what the red outline is supposed to look like. I did see a hazy light red area but only at the very top. Did not see it again. I know you guys are doing your best to make this happen and I really do appreciate it. Thanks for your patience!

Then try to uninstall using avast uninstaller then reinstall it and see the result this one have even a greater chance to work

Under the “Virtualization Parameters” have you tried UNchecking, saving, checking,
and saving again the option “Show borders around the windows …”?
It does start for me, stays onscreen about one full second, while the browser tab says “connecting…” then IE closes as soon as it’s connected.
I’m running XP pro 32-bit with IE 8.0.6001 on a fresh instal of Avast Internet Security 5.0.
Too bad, too, I pretty much bought the app for this Sandbox feature and it just falls over like a castle built on a swamp.
