Hi Folks,
Bought Avast Pro for promotional price of USD19.99 and received invoice from Digital River for same amount. When my Amex bill arrived showed correct debit and then the next day a further debit for USD9.99 taking the actual cost to USD29.98. I know it’s a small amount extra but annoys just the same!! Searched web pages for Digital River plus Avast but neither gives an email to contact them let alone query an account. One web site suggested IYOGI…you can probably imagine what my reaction was to that.
I know it’s way OT but has anybody got any bright ideas???
Cheers Phil
Run in terror? Maybe arm yourself? ;D
Jokes aside, you should contact sales@avast.com.
Thanks Gargamel have sent email to sales.

Let us know how it turns out.
@ phil2
Did you also purchase/select the avast! Rescue CD as I believe that is $9.99 and isn’t anything to do with the main program ?
Hi David,
No didn’t purchase cd as in these cases I find them a waste of time.
Have had a quick response from sales@avast (very impressed) and they have confirmed USD19.99 invoice is correct and will investigate additional charge. Feel somewhat guilty over such a piddling amount but principle and all that!!
Cheeers! Phil
Good, glad they helped you quickly.
Bah, an overcharge is an overcharge and should always be rectified. Good that you said something, it helps highlight what went wrong and prevent it from happening again.
sadly this has happened to a few of my customers lately as well. they paid for avast then noticed an extra charge a day or couple days later one was 59.99!!! :o i told them to contact avast or i could do it for them and the charge was refunded but avast sales said they had no idea what happened. imo maybe someone at digital river or in between got the cc numbers possibly. this is rare but i have seen it with three people in the last couple months. also note amex is great with disputes if it comes to that.
i was about to suggest the back up cd also but someone else already did.
I wasn’t actually speaking about the back-up CD, but the avast! Recovery CD a bootable CD with a version of avast on it so you can clean an infected system from outside of windows, this also comes with other recovery tools I believe (though I don’t know them).
Sorry David misunderstood and you are probably right about the USD9.95…although I didn’t authorize it .
After being initially impressed with avast! sales am now getting the run-around as follows:-
“the first charge is ours, but the second charge doesn’t look like ours. Please contact Element 5”
In the light of the post by zfactor I have asked sales to pass the matter on to Adam Riley, Third Party Manager.
because as with IYOGI problems it causes unnecessary mistrust of a great product like avast!
You could try this contact at Digital River, whilst this is generally for license enquiries it is a means of contact - license enquiries Digital River (Element5) https://secure.element5.com/esales/impressum.html?.
@David Thank you and will give it a try.
