avast pro not updating [iAVS & program] and many more!

recently, i upgraded to XP SP3…then it went well…but suddenly…my avast stopped updating itself…
i tried to manually updating it…but the pop-up screen wont show…

but it does work…i’m just worried about the updates…
-using Avast 4.8.1209
-last update:081206

Well I would first update your version of avast, the latest is 4.8.1296, so I think that pre-dates your SP3 update.

It may be best to do a clean reinstall.

Download the latest version of avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html and save it to your HDD, somewhere you can find it again. Use that when you reinstall, see below.

First try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. Then try a manual update.

What is your firewall ?

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, find it here and save it to your HDD.

  1. Now uninstall (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that start from the next step), reboot.
  2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility, reboot. If step 1 failed it may be necessary to run this from safe mode, once complete reboot into normal mode.
  3. install the latest version, reboot.

i am trying to repair but theres nothing happened…
the wizard doesnt appear…

i’ll try to uninstall it in a matter of days…

There is no wizard if it is in reference to the Repair, it runs in the background, very quickly checking the integrity of avast.
