I am a current 3-PC subscriber. The virus found siren is consistently going off on my laptop. I have disabled sounds in Avast options as well as tried silent and full screen mode. The sound used to stop when playing a game or going full screen, so I just kept the speakers muted until doing that, but now it goes off all the time unless I mute system sounds in the mixer. It is a distinct siren, kind of a whoop, and after much searching, I found YouTube clips of the Avast virus found sound and it’s a match for it. Please advise. Thank you.
Hi Globe77 you should have posted your post in the Virus and Worms section of this forum. Follow the instructions listed here https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 and a malware expert and other authorized user(s) will assist you.
Does it give any warning popups at the same time?
If so what does it say…you may attach a screenshot
Copy, thanks. No associated popups. I uninstalled Avast and it is still happening, so it may be something else unless it’s a remnant. I’ll continue troubleshooting and re-post in the virus/worm forum if I don’t get anywhere.
in the guide Staticguy gave link to is a diagnostic tool Farbar Recovery Scan Tool … it may show what the problem is if you attach those logs
