Avast Pro stopped working

Hello all, Ok iam having a bit of some issue’s first i did a scan with SAS and it found
Rouge.agent/Gen-nullo [DLL]the files are

C:Windows\system32\MSDRVE.DLL
C:Windows\VMOPTVER.DLL
ok quarantine then did another scan they came up again. Now my System has been wacky for the last week or so. This morning I stared my PC to have a blue screen. Ok did system repair PC took a little while to load up and that’s when I found both Avast pro and Microsoft security essentials not working ok got Microsoft to work but not my Avast Pro . So did a System restore and still not working. and SAS had been a process hog not sure what’s going on with my PC. So if anyone can help I would appreciated it Thank you

You should use only one resident AV…!!!

Repair avast!:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → avast!
  2. Scroll down and click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

yeah i’ve done that to and got this message Error processing packages please use full updates and then tried to updated from same location and got same error message

Before we continue, please drop MSE.

System restore can have an adverse effect on avast.

Having two resident anti-virus scanners installed is one too many and not recommended as rather than provide twice the protection it can cause conflicts that could leave you more vulnerable.

So once you resolve the MSE being installed.

If you still can’t update - Try a Manual update of VPS - avast! Virus Definitions Update - Manual Download VPS Update (virus definitions, vpsupd.exe, approx 31MB). - Save the file to your hard disk, locate where you saved it and double click it and that should carry out the virus definitions update.

Note: Ignore the file name in the images of the page that is displayed after clicking the download link, they are for the main program, not for vpsupd.exe which will be downloaded.

ok

it said file was up to date but it still has a big red x unsecured ok this did not work.

Did you uninstall MSE yet…??

yes should i reboot

Yes, please do so.
When you’re back we’ll do a clean reinstall of avast.

  1. Download: avast! Pro Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/setup_av_pro.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.

ok iam back ty

You’re welcome…!

Edit: Did you mean you’re back to continue or did you mean that your problem is solved…??

ok, Got it going. Doing a scan hope all is well I’ll keep you updated. Thanks Nancy

Good.
