Hi, I have Avast pro 6 and saw that it had stopped running. I clicked the button to restart and to fix both and neither worked. I got an error message as well. It said that the “file system shield provider not found”. Help? Anyone??
Hi,
We on this forum need more info what your problem is,
1 What operating system are you using?
2 Did you have any other antivirus before avast was installed? Need to use their removal tools(symantecs/nortons) (macafees)
3 Do a test with malwarebytes free on full scan to check for spys/malware that will interfere with avast!
First of all, after a “fix it”, you need to reboot before testing the consequences whether the problem was solved or not.
You may try a repair of avast using “add/remove programs” → change (or uninstall, depending on the Windows version, which you don’t mention) and select there “repair” (instead of the usuall “uninstall”).
After the repair, reboot.
If that doesn’t work so to solve the problem, download the latest stable version of Avast Pro (currently, 6.0.1367 ), and install over your current installation, and then reboot.
BEWARE!: If for any reason you decide to really uninstall avast (instead of the repair, for example), you should take a backup copy of your license file so to be able to apply it again later when you reinstall. I’m hoping you don’t really need to uninstall, but just to repair or to run the installation procedure over your current one (without uninstalling).
Please report back.
