Avast>Protection>Firewall>Application rules.

Hi guys,
Avast Version 21.7.2481 on Windows 10
When I open Avast>Protection>Firewall>Application rules.
I see a list of 50 programs on my PC.
Most of the programs in the list,
if I click on them nothing happens,
They appear empty folders.
And there is no number at the end of the folder description.
Can I assume they are empty?
Can I delete them?
And why are they in the list if I can’t do anything with them?
Thank You

Hi,

If you click on any app and it does not do anything, you most likely do not have any rules set for it. If there is no number next to it, it would also indicate that no rule has been set.

Thank You, Asyn I have done a fresh clean install of version 21.8
Thank You, r@vast for your advice.

I understand how to make rules for Avast.
But I do not understand why when I do a fresh install.
Avast chooses to automatically apply rules to some programs and NOT to others, for?
Examples:
Microsoft Corporation (34)
Mozilla Corporation (1)
Malwarebytes (3)
Avast Software (5)
And so on….

And No rules are made for:
Adobe.
Acronis.
WhatsApp.
Nitro Software.
Power ISO.
PassMark Software.
And so on….

Can someone tell me why Avast assigns rules to some programs and
not to other?
Why does Avast list a program and give no rule?
There are a huge number of other programs that are on my PC
that I will manually make rules for, but why then does Avast not list every program on my PC .
It looks to me as if Avast just picks programs Ad Hoc to list ?
Thank You for your thoughts!

The rules should get assigned when the program/app first connects to the net.

OK,Thank you Asyn, I will keep an eye on what you said!

Hi,

To add to what I mentioned before. It remembers the apps for which you have set rules in the past. Thus if you uninstalled those apps at some point in the past, it will remember them but not show the “old” rules (since they are not valid anymore). With the new Firewall, the rules settings have been improved.

You’re welcome.
