Hello,
Is it possible to configure Avast Ransomware Shield to protect all files automatically in protected folders without manually entering the file types.
It is extremely useful since many files of different extensions are important to protect and it’s impractical to keep track of them and manually add them.
Other antiviruses such as Microsoft Defender offer that by default.
Have you checked the settings for the Ransomware Shield - whilst I don’t have it installed - I prefer to do regular backups of my system and files I don’t want to lose.
It is/was my belief (could be wrong) that you can assign new folders to be protected rather than having to assign file types and folders.
My reading of that instruction is that provided the default file types are contained in that folder all you need do is add a new folder. Provided the file types in that are covered by the defaults that should be it.
If there is a file type that you want covered and isn’t in the default list you can add that to the defaults (see attached image, extracted from the article).
That said the default files types based on Avast’s experience I would guess must be those most commonly attacked.
I am aware how to configure Avast shield. These file types seems also to be the most used.
My question is if it is possible to protect all files. If there is a hidden setting or configuration in Avast:Geek for example.
