Avast recognizes malware, but can't remove it...

My android has been infected with a malware program since shortly after I first got it. Anytime I try to do a google search to look something up on the internet, the page will not open, and instead a message flashes across the screen that a “virus” has been detected on my computer. This is from “a page at onlinemobileapplication.xyz”. I knew from the first this was malware, so I eventually downloaded the avast app to clean it up. Now that avast is on there, all it does when the virus shows up is flash a red message saying “Malware Detected!,” then it gives the web address and says it’s been reported as a malware.

But it won’t get rid of it! So what do I do now?

My android has been infected
a "virus" has been detected on my computer.

So is it a android device or a windows computer?

If android the easy way … factory reset device

If computer, follow instructions here and you will get assistance >> https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

It’s an android phone (yes, sorry, I accidentally said “computer”). I did what you suggested, and everything seems to be working fine now–I think the malware was wiped. Thanks so much!
