Avast renewal attention

So i turned Avast renew off a month ago as i got my first renew now price via UI popup.
Today 59 days before renewal im getting all these yellow Attention icons.
Do i have to put up with these for the next 2 months, Is this not a bit overboard?
I know when my renewal is due and i only turned off auto renew as a month ago i got the first popup for 1 pc for 1 year at £89
then with the latest UI update a couple of weeks ago it went down to £65
today its gone down again to £38.99 for 1 pc for 1 year then full price next year.

Last year i found a key on amazon for £12 and thankfully avast price matched this.
I can now buy a key from same place as last year for 10 pc for 3 years for £20
If these are actually legit keys then how does avast get away with charging so much for loyal customers. ive been with them since 2012 and joined this foum in 2014.

Im not too bothered about the yellow icons in UI but is there anyway to change the desktop shortcut bottom right to get rid of the yellow attention icon.

I have already commented many times here on the forum that these advertisements are being very aggressive towards customers, especially since there are still many days left before the key expires.

Once again I ask the Avast team to reduce this information about purchasing the product, because it is being very aggressive and very irritating.

Personally I would never auto renew anything - doing so would reduce the likelihood of getting a discount rather than pay full price on auto renewal.

This is true for almost any program/software renewal, handle it yourself and you are likely to be offered a reduced price as the due date gets closer.

Note I’m using Avast Free and I probably get less hassle than a paid user, in my opinion this is counter productive. Not using Avast Premium Security, I don’t know if there is anything in the settings about notifications (relating to renewal) not being displayed e.g. Settings > General > Notifications - Silent Mode ?

This happened to me last December when I still had fourteen months of Avast Ultimate (10 device) left. Avast Support told me the ads were coming from myavast.com account. When I logged in there, I found I had no subscriptions listed and couldn’t add any licenses, either. After numerous incomplete rounds with tech support, I finally resolved the problem by installing a new beta version (I was beta-testing for Avast at that time). After nearly twenty years with Avast I’m sad to say it has turned to a piece of shit. I am counting the days 'til I move my last system over to Sophos, a company that treats their users respectfully. Good luck to you.

Bad news, I have been an Avast freeloader for over twenty years and I probably get less hassle to upgrade than you do/did.

Considering the amount of users complaining about Avast, what do you think?
Has AVAST become worse since it was bought by GEN DIGITAL?
Because from what people say before, it was better.

@DavidR does it again.
Ive never noticed id got mine set to smart mode.now changed to Limied.
Thanks David
Yellow Icons are sadly still there.

You’re welcome.
Whilst I believe it should be effective immediately, try a restart. Hopefully over the long term it should cut some notifications down a little.

Sadly no change mate.
also in notifications you can usually close the reminder but not for renewal, its there all the time.

Sad to hear, not much incentive if you can get it legitimately elsewhere cheaper.

I subscribe to PC Pro magazine and they offer lots of legit program subscriptions at much reduced prices. I guess they are likely to move lots of these subscriptions and get a bulk deal, compared to the individual. I believe I have also seen these subscriptions on Amazon.

Interesting. So, it’s better to have Avast Free to quell re-up nags, and better to have Avast $Paid$ subscription for u-need-more-software nags. Got it!

I’ll configure a joke for that on the SOPHOS forum soon. LOLOL

Well I have no personal experience of Avast Premium, etc. and I have tweaked my Avast settings to reduce that number as much as possible. But I would guess is that the majority are related to renewal of the paid product being offered other products

As I have said many of these options to reduce the noise/numbers should be available in the Avast Premium user settings.

Finally got rid of all the yellow icons. Key code arrived by post within 2 days. now linked to my original account. 10 pc’s for 3 years for less than the original cheapest price from avast for 1 pc for 1 year.

I have an AVAST subscription, but when the 60-day mark is up, AVAST starts sending me these annoying ads to buy them.

But tell me the truth, you don’t need them yet because you have 60 days left. Leave the message until you have 10 days left.

But this aggressive way of theirs is really putting off users.

They could change that.

Totally agree with you mate, it is off putting indeed.
at least ive got 3 years peace from them as key doesnt run out until 2028

When you sign up for 3 years, you feel at peace.

But it shouldn’t be like this. They are trying to force you to buy a 3-year subscription so you don’t receive these messages about purchasing a license. This is absurd for us customers.

As I’ve said in other posts, Avast team, you have to stop this aggressive propaganda about purchasing a license with more than 50 days left.

There really should be a graceful way to forego this to say when it hits 14 days.

The same is true for offers for other paid products - a way to say no thanks.

That’s exactly it, my friend, between 10 and 15 days for these messages to arrive.
But the way they are arriving with customers for more than 50 days is very bizarre. For a large company, this is not necessary.
