I have 3 PC’s that are running XP with Avast looking like they are up and running from the client perspective, but in the ADNM they are showing like Avast is not even installed. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Are these machines even protected?
- Are they realy running the NETCLIENT Edition of avast? (and not avast! Professional)?
- If so, please check the file \data\log\error.log. Can you post its contents (or at least the last part?)
Thanks

5/1/2007 12:22:25 PM 1178036545 SYSTEM 1628 Cannot connect Server lookup didn’t find any AMS’! socket, WinSock error 0x00000000 has occurred.
Seems that the address of the AMS is not correctly set.
Please log on as Administrator (or a member of the local admin group) and use the aswChAms.exe command-line utility to set the AMS address. The tools usage is trivial:
aswChAms.exe
where is the DNS name or IP address of the AMS.

Now that it is changed, it still cannot see port 16111.
5/2/2007 12:36:05 PM 1178123765 SYSTEM 1560 avastms conn attempt failed, LastSrv (192.168.0.2:16111) OK. (error 00000000)
The server that it is loaded does not have a firewall running to block this.
Well this entry looks OK (that is, sounds like it succeeded).
So, according to the console, the machine hasn’t communicated?
I have found this error on another machine that has been going on for sometime now. Why is it one can communicate and other one cannot?
Can you check if the AMS address is correctly configured in the Computer group’s properties? (Communications page).
Also, can you please answer my previous question, that is, if the machine hasn’t communicated after using the aswChAms tool?
Thanks
Vlk
To answer your previous question, yes I finally can see now see it in the ADNM. However, I have looked for what you are talking about with configuring the Computer group’s properties? (Communications page). Where exactly is this located?
Right click Computer Catalog → Properties → go to the Communication page and check if the AMS Address field is set correctly.
Thanks
