avast screensaver

Hi,

In the settings of avast screensaver I have eliminated the
scanning during the screensaving.
Now that popupwindow of avast no longer wants appear when I click on
the button “settings” of the popupwindow of WIN 98,I hear twist the HD but there happened nothing.

??? ??? ???

See if a repair of Avast solves it.

I’m not sure, but I think you can also change that setting in Avast4.ini

Thanks for the reply, but how do I the repair?

Where find I the setting of avast4.ini?

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Add Remove programs, avast! Anti-Virus, Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow. You need to be on-line to do this.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove
Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
You must be connected to the internet while repairing.

If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

Very much thanks for the tips, buth were find I this remove/control panel,I’m verry sorry buth I’m a beginner so you well see.

start > control panel > add/remove > Avast > change/uninstall > repair (as David has explained)

The “start” button left down under the screen? I don’t see the name “control panel” in the menu.

WIN 98

I have look in the FAQ’s of avast and mayby is the follow instruction the solution because I don’t find the control panel also not in "start>settings.

"avast! uninstall utility
Sometimes it´s not possible to uninstall avast! standard way - using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS control panel. In that case you can use our uninstallation utility aswClear.

How to uninstall our software using aswClear.exe:

Download aswClear.exe on your desktop
Execute it
If you installed avast! in different folder than default, browse for it. (Note: Be careful! The content of any folder you choose will be deleted!)
Click REMOVE
Restart your computer"

At last I find the follow in the FAQ’S:

[ How can I uninstall avast!?

A: You can uninstall avast! just as any other software - using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in Control Panel. There is nothing special about this. If any problem appears, use the avast! uninstall utility.

The exact way:

Click on START button.
Select SETTINGS → CONTROL PANEL (or simply CONTROL PANEL - it depends on your Windows version) → ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
From the list of installed applications select avast! Antivirus and click on CHANGE/REMOVE button.
avast! setup starts. Select UNINSTALL and click on NEXT.
Computer restart will be needed after avast! uninstallation.]

I find the control panel with clicking on the list of installed applications and click on “change/remove” button, now I clicked on the area “repair”.

Note: the problem is not repaired!!!

Were you on-line at the time you tried to repair?

If yes and that didn’t work, then uninstall avast, reboot, install avast agsin and reboot.

Yes, I was on line, buth the downloadwindow don’t show a download, it disappears after a few seconds.

Thanks for the reply and maybe is a complete reinstall the finely solution.

OK David.

Hi again,

When I have uninstall the program, must I use the original setup or dld I a new one?

What do I whit the license, can I use the same as present?

A beginner

If you’re uninstalling avast to reinstall it again after, you can do both: or use the same setup and update after you install it or, better, download a new setup file.

Yes, you can use the same license number for the time rest to 14 month (limit). Or you can register again and use ‘all’ 14 months of the new license number 8)

A non-beginner ;D

Very much thanks for the help technical.

Problems are fixed now with the reinstall.
