Hi,
Avast secure browser keeps changing default browser settings without permission.
Firefox is set as my default browser, but frequently ASB keeps changing it.
This has only been happening since the last update.
I repeatedly keep having to manually change the default back to firefox.
Please advise,
Thanks
PS; I have clean uninstalled and reinstalled ASB more than once; same result.

Hi
Thanks for your advice.
It has stopped making itself the default browser for the last week or so.
I’'l keep your solution in mind if it starts doing it again.
One question, will disabling the browser protect make the browser less secure/
Regards
This problem is still ongoing. After reading this I have to ask three questions: (1) Have you been sitting on your hands for the past 7 months or is this simply “intrusive ware”? (2) What is the point of having a secure browser when the maker responds to a question with the answer, “disable the browser’s protect feature” as a fix? (3) Did you know that I was cancelling my Avast subscription for all eternity?
I uninstalled the avast secure browser (after it installed itself without my permission) and despite being uninstalled it still kept itself protected as the “default browser,” not allowing me to set any of my other browsers as default. I ended up having to turn off the self-defense settings in Avast antivirus to fix this - so much for the browser being a separate stand-alone.
It is damn annoying. Wonder of wonders, Avast has taken out the option to delete various search engines in Settings. I remember vividly the option to delete BING as a search engine option because every time I did so, it gave me great joy. Now they don’t even include several options such as Duck Duck Go because it is not a popular one used in my area.
