how do I disable this stupid secure browser from getting added to the taskbar and putting it as my default browser

First, I’m an Avast user and not an Avast Team member and I don’t use the Avast Secure Browser.
I modified your question and did a Google search on it.

You could have tried this as a modified search.
Stop the Avast secure browser being added to the taskbar and set as my default browser

HI, I know it isn’t relevant anymore for you but for anyone still with this issue who might see this post, I have found a solution, Avast Secure Browser has scheduled tasks that run at log on and periodically and they set Avast as the default browser. So if you want to fix it open Task Scheduler and find the Avast Secure Browser tasks (There should be about 4 of them) and right click them and choose Disable.
