Avast Secureline Auto Renewal.

Hi. I was trying out Avast secureline with the 30 day trial, which will expire in a few days. I’m happy with the service so I just paid for a years subscription with my credit card. The problem is though, I have automatic renewal on, which has my bank card details. I tried to cancel automatic renewal but it won’t let me. So will my bank card be charged when the automatic renewal runs out in a few days, even although I have just purchased a years subscription? I tried to phone the helpline and the person on the other end was very rude and couldn’t really speak much English. He just put some music on while I was talking to him and then disconnected me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The phone number you called is not avast but a third party that only handles certain things on behalves of avast and billing questions isn’t one of them.

The auto-renewal will take place on the day (or very shortly before it) your current subscription will expire, which in your case will be around this time next year.
You can disable the auto renewal anytime you want > https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB24

Thanks for the reply Eddy, but I think you misunderstood me. If I look at my licenses, I currently have 2 licenses for Avast Secureline. The one I just purchased, which will run out in a years time, and the one that I had a 30 day free trial on, which will run out in a few days. I’m just wondering if the license which will run out in a few days, when the trial ends, will automatically renew, meaning I will be charged again in a few days time? Thanks.

There is no 30 day trial, only a 7 day one > https://www.avast.com/secureline-vpn#pc

I can assure you there is. My 30 day trial runs out at the end of the month… Have a look at this…

If anyone else can help with my original question, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’ve submitted a ticket to Avast but from what I can gather this can take up to seven days to get a reply, which is obviously no use to me, as I may be charged again at the end of this month for something I already have. Thanks.

If anyone else can help with my original question
I already gave you the answer. A trial = a trial and you will not be charged for it. auto-renewal will take place on the day (or shortly before) the end of your current subscription. Before the auto renewal takes place you will get several mails from avast telling you it is about to take place giving you enough time to cancel it if you want.

But in order to get the 30 day trial, I had to sign up for auto renewal, which involved entering my card details, meaning that after my 30 day trial has expired, I would automatically be charged for a years subscription. I have tried to cancel auto renewal for this license, but it won’t let me. So effectively, when my 30 day trial runs out, (end of month), they are going to charge me for a years subscription. Which I already have. I hope this makes sense.

What is the problem if you follow the instructions ?

I logged in to my Avast account, and clicked on ‘My Licenses’, I currently have 3 of them. One for Avast Internet Security and two for Avast Secureline. I had the option on all licenses to cancel the automatic renewal. When I clicked on ‘cancel automatic renewal’ for the license for the 30 day trial, it gave me a message along the lines of, “Contacting Avast to cancel automatic renewal.” After a minute or two I got a message saying something like, “Sorry, we can’t cancel your automatic renewal”. So in other words, they are going to automatically renew at the end of the month and there is nothing I can do about it.

Again, what is the problem if you follow the instructions in the link I gave you ?

We’re getting nowhere here Eddy. Looks like I’ll just have to wait until the end of the month, and then if they charge me I’ll just have to apply for a refund. Thanks for your help anyway.
