I have a MacBook and subscribed to Avast Security for a number of years. I typically use Firefox as my default browser. Within the past 1-2 weeks, since I updated to iOS 26.2, I’ve noticed that whenever I attempt to go to any specific URL, I get an error back from Firefox that says the following:
“‘Software is Preventing Firefox From Safely Connecting to This Site’
[URL] is most likely a safe site, but a secure connection could not be established. This issue is caused by Avast trusted CA, which is either software on your computer or your network. “
The problem goes away when I uncheck “Scan secure connections” in Preferences: Core Shields. This problem is not showing up in any other browser. I prefer Firefox due to it’s high security and Mozilla’s rep for integrity. However, what’s the point in using Avast if the only way I can use Firefox is to turn off Avast’s connection scanning capability, which is an important part of my online security shield?
