For connecting to work, windows 10, under Internet Properties and then Local Area Newtork (LAN) settings, I have to check “Use automatic configuration script” and then enter the address in the Address field.
However, for the last # of months, after working w/o problem for years, this box is continually being unchecked while using the computer.
It seems to me this is due to Avast because: finally, out of desperation, I did a totally clean re-install of windows 10 and no problem. After a couple of days I then downloaded and installed the latest Avast free and the problem was back again. This has been one huge PITA.
Any suggestions?
