Hi, been a longtime user of home avast!
i’ve had this bizare issue with booting recently,
last week reinstalled windows as i couldn’t figure out how to get around it without uninstalling avast
for seemingly no reason I after avast has been running fine the computer just hangs on startup for a good while, i can ctrl alt del, bring up task manager but if i try to close/run/chang properties the app hangs, i can see that the avast service is starting.
all event manager tells me is that avast service failed to start
if i wait long enough once windows loads i get a error from avast when i try to open it, (can’t remember off hand, and it takes sooo long to get windows to boot i gave up trying)
i tried selecting delay avast service in the diagnostics tab in avast (i think thats ware its located, but not sure, but it was definatly something about delaying starting), did that, windows now boots fine, however a couple of seconds after, the avast service starts and just freezes, cannot open or close any programs however any open programs respond but freeze when needing to load files i’m guessing
at first i thought it was a random error, but since its done it again after reinstalling windows and for seemingly no reason i thought i better mention something.
oh btw, there have been no updates installed, this time i had installed the ati driver package, however last time it happend i had installed gta IV, previous time had ati drivers installed whilst avast was installed and no troubles, and this time no troubles after gta IV installed, maybe theres some link there but i can’t see it, but its the only thing that changed on the computers the two times
