Hello , I’ve been having problems with avast cpu usage lately.I’m using Internet Security on an i5 laptop , and for some reason the “avast! Service” process takes around 25-30% of my CPU usage and turns the turbo on which makes the laptop really hot. What bugs me the most is the fact that this is happening on a freshly-installed windows 10 (I’ve reinstalled the OS thinking I might’ve gotten a virus of some sort) . Any sort of information would be appreciated
First thing to do is checking what processes are running (background).
It can be avast is constantly scanning one (or more) of them.
Second thing you can do is performing a repair of avast and check if the problem is solved or not after doing so.
If not solved, perform a clean installation of avast and check again.
Regarding the first thing , there’s really nothing unusual considering its a clean install, few chrome modules , avastui process and some standard windows background processes.
I have tried the repair and another install , none of which seem helped.
Update : http://imgur.com/a/dCYFo , from what i can see here it seems to me that it could be doing some kind of scan because it uses the disk also? Weird thing is that it’s been a few days now and it should’ve ended if it was one. Any thoughts?
Did you use aswclear during the clean installation ?
