I have two machines, one with XP and the other with Windows7.
On the XP, I had avast4 earlier. Deleted all and installed avast5.
On Windows7, avast5 is installed.
On XP, at PC start-up I see an additional process at task manager: avast.setup
I do not see it on Windows7.
I have traced it with “prio” on the task manager. It points to a file at C:\Alwil Software\Avast5\Setup\avast.setup, but there is no such file on that directory, even with show hidden files and folders option is on.
Is it a trojan type virus/sypware/malware on XP machine; or is it normal that I see it on one, but not on the other - due to some setup parameters, etc.?
The auto update function in avast will check for updates after an internet connection has been made. So if you have broadband always on connection that will be detected and an update check made, if one is present then it will be downloaded and installed automatically. This is what avast.setup handles.
