This is not a major concern but more of a puzzling issue. Occasionally I find the Avast program showing on the taskbar of my Windows XP Pro SP3 desktop when the program window has been closed. Left clicking it does nothing while right clicking opens the menu including ‘Close’ but clicking ‘Close’ does not remove it. The only way to remove the taskbar item is to re-open the Avast program window and close it again. No other programs behave in this way. I also run Avast on a Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 desktop without this minor problem.
I’d be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to why I am experiencing this phenomenum in XP.
Thanks for your quick reply - I hadn’t thought of that so I’ll give it a shot. The spasmodic nature of the problem means I may not get a recurrence of the problem for some time even if I do nothing so please understand if you don’t hear a responce from me for a while. If, after a week, say, the problem has not recurred, I’ll let you know - if the situation does recurr within that time, I’ll report back right away.
