Avast, Skype and Virus Box

I had to delete my Skype account and now after having downloaded again and clicked on setup, Avast tells me it is a virus and puts in the Virus chest? I have tried it several times but have had to new downloads as Avast removes it from my Download box.

I have Skype on Ipad and on a Desktop computer with no problem at all. The Desktop also has Avast installed.

Can anyone advise what to do. A senior and too technical so simple help would be appreciated :-[

Will you please provide a link of where you are downloading Skype from? I will test to see if I receive the same result.

I’m having the same problem. If I scan the file for viruses it comes up clean.

I have even tried to add the file to the scan exclusion list but to no avail

Will you please attach an image of the warning you are receiving?

I am unable to duplicate this and virustotal comes up clean. → https://www.virustotal.com/file/ca47b37d095706d5138621373c3f8d85c4c2052ccf6b85a9830755d3b136540d/analysis/1360785232/

You can submit this as a false positive from the virus chest. Go to maintenance then virus chest.
Right click on the file and select ‘submit to virus lab’.

Well what can I say just as I was going do as you suggested I had to shutdown my laptop for a while and have just reopened and decided to give it one more go, so once again been onto Skype to re-download, this I did expecting that Avast would throw it into the Virus box. Well you could have “knocked me down with a feather” - this time it has worked. I have no idea why. It took about 4 attempts of downloading and trying to install to get it working. Perhaps it needed a rest :o Thank you anyway for trying to help it is very much appreciated

It could very well have been a VPS update that fixed it.
